  • June - Henry Reed Fiddler's Convention
  • June 2 - Come Outside and Play at Glen Alton
  • June 9-10, 2012 Civil War Weekend. A  grand reenactment of the 1862 Battle of Pearisburg, with an evening encampment followed the next day by a full-scale skirmish with infantry and artillery troops, and a fully-staffed field hospital.

    • August 18 | Newport Jamboree
      Windfall and Roscoe P and Coaltrain. 7-9 pm $5.00 donation for adults and kids admitted free. Refreshments available
    • August 25 | Fall into the New - River Clean-up
      This year we are focusing on the area from Mccoy Falls to Pembroke. Please come out and help us keep the New River flowing clear and clear and enjoy some time with your friends and family on the river.
    • August 31 - Sept 1 | Great Outdoors Expo
      Labor Day Weekend - Farm, Forest, Field, and Fish - Education and Fun! Seminars and demonstrations going on through out the weekend that engage all ages. Only $5 per vehicle. Horse pull contest, antique tractor pull, horse logging demonstrations, farmers market, horsemanship demonstrations by award winning horses and riders, food demonstrations, goat clinics, 4H exhibits, pasture management seminars, and so much more!

      10-4 On the Giles County Courthouse lawn. We will have an alternate location in case of inclement weather so we're on rain or shine.

    • September 29 | Tour De Wolf Creek Cycling Event
      12:00 noon. This is a fun ride for the entire family and is an awesone autumn adventure along Wolf Creek starting and finishing in Narrows, VA.Take your pick of approximately a 20 mile, 30 mile or a 53 mile round trip ride, or you can ride as much of the course that you want. Enjoy the fall foilage and the serene ride along Wolf Creek nestled in the Alleghany Mountains.
    • September 29 | 2nd Annual Mountain Top Trot 10-mile & 5k Trail Run
      Two trail races atop the Mountain provide a fun challenge for all levels of runners. Enjoy the fall foliage and refreshing mountain air as you test your skills on Mountain Lake's extensive trail system. Gather around the bonfire at the finish line to relax and enjoy complimentary post-race chili and refreshments. This is a fundraiser event for the Mountain Lake Conservancy, family teams and walkers welcome!
